$72 diagnostic, flat-rate pricing in writing before any work starts. Same-day or next-day service available most days, schedule permitting.
AC out today? Call now and we'll get a technician out same-day, schedule permitting.
What most people call the AC is one of three things. Each one opens to a hub with repair, replacement and maintenance options.
The ducted outdoor condenser and indoor coil most Charlotte homes run. Repair on every major brand, $72 diagnostic, credited toward the work.
Looks like an AC from the driveway and cools like one all summer. When the cooling side quits, the diagnosis is different — so is the fix.
Wall or ceiling heads in an addition, a sunroom or a bonus room. We service mini-splits whoever installed them.
A few patterns we hear most in the summer. Any one of them is reason enough to schedule a diagnostic.
The thermostat is set, the unit's running, but the second floor stays warm.
Same usage, same thermostat, noticeably higher utility statement.
Vents blowing, but the house never drops to the set point.
A bedroom, a sunroom, a bonus room over the garage.
Usually a refrigerant or airflow problem — not a sign to thaw it and restart.
Hums, rattles, hissing, or short cycling on a hot afternoon.
We diagnose properly, write the price before any work begins, and tell the truth about whether it's repair or replacement.
Same-day or next-day service most days, schedule permitting. After hours, the line is answered by our team.
Three instruments, on every AC repair call. Here is what each one tells us, in plain language.
Pressure read at the high and low lines, against the ambient temperature — not a glance at the gauges. A system low on charge and a system with a blocked coil look identical from the driveway.
What it means: Adding refrigerant to a leak is a repair you pay for twice. Measuring first tells us which one you have.
Static pressure read across the evaporator coil and the return. Undersized returns and leaking ducts cause the same hot upstairs bedroom that a failing compressor does, and cost a great deal less to fix.
What it means: Sometimes the answer isn't a new system. If your unit has another five years in it, we'll say so.
Draw at the contactor and the compressor, capacitor tested under load, condensate path verified — read against the manufacturer's own spec rather than against how the part looks.
A capacitor reading 12 µF against a 35 µF spec — that's the failure. Not a symptom. A Concord homeowner we visited last summer had already been quoted just under $9,000 for a full replacement; the measurements found a weak capacitor, a dirty evaporator coil and a partly blocked return. The repair replaced the capacitor and cleaned the coil; the system did not need replacing.
What it means: You pay to fix the part that's actually broken, not the expensive one someone guessed at.
| What is being compared | A typical call | A Tru72 call |
|---|---|---|
| Diagnosis | Guess first. Swap the part that usually fails and see whether it holds. | Measure first. Refrigerant pressures, static pressure and electrical draw read before anything is quoted. |
| Repair or replace | Replace first. A repair on an older system becomes a replacement quote. | Diagnose first. If your unit has another five years in it, we'll say so. If it doesn't, we'll say that too. |
| Parts not on the truck | You find out when the invoice arrives. | You get the cost and the return date before we leave. |
| Sizing a replacement | Same size as the old one, right or wrong. | Manual J load calculation against your actual home — square footage, ceiling heights, windows, insulation. |
| The price | A number at the end of the visit, after the work. | Flat-rate, in writing, before a wrench turns. The $72 diagnostic credits toward it. |
What it means: You can take our written quote to any other shop and compare it line for line. That is the point of putting it in writing.
When a central AC quits in July, you don't want a sales pitch. You want someone who shows up, finds out what's wrong, and tells you the truth. Five steps, every time.
Online or by phone. Same-day or next-day service is typically available, schedule permitting. After-hours calls are answered by our team, not a voicemail.
The visit starts with a $72 diagnostic. A real one: refrigerant pressures measured at the lines, static pressure read across the coil, electrical draw checked at the contactor, capacitor tested under load, condensate flow verified.
When we know what's wrong, you get flat-rate pricing in writing before any work begins. The $72 credits toward the repair. If the part isn't on the truck, we tell you what it costs and when we can have it back. No surprise invoices.
The fault gets fixed — not the part next to it. What we won't do is try to sell you a new system because we hit a tricky repair. If your unit has another five years in it, we'll say so. If it doesn't, we'll say that too, and give you a quote you can compare against anyone else.
We re-measure after the repair, so you know the system is performing before we leave.
How an AC repair visit costs out — before, during and after. No truck-roll fee, no surprise invoices. Members of Tru Comfort pay less on every line.
| Stage | What it costs | What that buys |
|---|---|---|
| Diagnostic | $72 | A measured diagnostic. Refrigerant pressures, electrical readings at the contactor, capacitor tested under load, condensate flow verified. The $72 credits toward the repair. |
| Repair pricing | Flat-rate, in writing | We quote in writing before any work begins. The $72 diagnostic credits toward the total. If the part needs to be ordered, you'll know the cost and the ETA before we leave. |
| Tru Comfort | 10% off repairs | Members save 10% on every repair, no after-hours surcharges, front-of-line scheduling. $14.99 a month or $180 a year, per system. |
| Mission Ready Plan | $39 service call | First responders, teachers and military qualify. The plan is free, and the service call is $39 instead of $72. |
What it means: The number you are quoted is the number you pay. Nothing is priced by the hour and nothing is added after the fact.
Repair work covers the full market regardless of brand. When a system does need replacing, these are the two we install — and here is why each one is worth having.
Inverter-driven, ultra-quiet, high-SEER2
Daikin is the global leader in heat pump technology. Inverter-driven variable-speed operation matches output to demand minute by minute, so you get tighter temperature control, lower operating noise and stronger efficiency.
Solid efficiency, strong warranty, accessible price
Goodman is the workhorse of the Daikin family in North America. Systems that hit modern efficiency targets at an approachable price point, with a warranty among the strongest in the industry — which matters when the system needs to last 15 to 20 years.
What it means: SEER2 is the efficiency rating on the label. A higher number means the same cooling for less electricity.
Members save 10% on every repair, no weekend or holiday surcharges, 24/7 answering, and front-of-line scheduling when something goes sideways. Two seasonal tune-ups a year are part of the membership. $14.99 a month or $180 a year, per system.
When the diagnostic points at replacement rather than repair, this is what is already on the table. We check it before you commit to anything.

The questions homeowners ask us most often before booking an AC repair.
Every call starts with a $72 diagnostic. From there, the repair is quoted as a flat rate in writing before any work begins. The $72 credits toward the repair. There's no truck-roll fee, no surprise invoices, no per-hour gotchas. Tru Comfort members save 10% on the total.
You walk away with a real measurement of what's wrong and a written quote you can take to any other shop for comparison. The $72 covers the diagnostic time. There's no obligation to use us, and no pressure on the call.
Yes. We service every major brand — Carrier, Trane, Lennox, Rheem, Goodman, Amana, Daikin, York, Bryant, American Standard, Heil, Mitsubishi, and others. We install Daikin and Goodman on new systems, but repair work covers everything in the market.
Same-day or next-day service is available most days, schedule permitting. In a peak July heat wave we sometimes run a day or two behind, but Tru Comfort members get priority scheduling and front-of-line slots. After-hours calls are answered by our team in real time, not a voicemail.
If the diagnostic finds the unit is past the point where repair makes financial sense, we'll tell you, and we'll give you a written quote on replacement you can compare to any other shop. We don't try to upsell on a repair call. If your unit has another five years in it, we'll say so. If it doesn't, we'll say that too.
