Mini-split service scope

Bought a home with a mini-split already in it? Inherited a system another company put in? We service and repair it. Mini-splits are brand-specific — the inverter boards, communication protocols, and refrigerant flares vary widely — and our certified technicians carry the tools and training to diagnose them right.

The $72 diagnostic applies to any mini-split repair and credits toward the work. You get the truth in writing before anything begins.

For new installs and replacements, we put in Daikin and Goodman, the inverter-driven brands we know inside out. If your current system is past its prime, we can quote a replacement sized to your rooms.

Tell us what's going on.

Four ways we handle your mini split. We route you to the right page, the right phone, the right answer.

  • Mini Split Installation

For additions, bonus rooms, above-garage spaces, sunrooms, and whole-home ductless retrofits. We size each zone properly. Single-head or multi-head in Daikin or Goodman. Free in-home consultation. Financing through GreenSky.

  • Mini Split Repair

On any mini-split, whoever installed it. Inverter board faults, communication errors, line-set flare leaks, condensate issues, indoor-head fan noise. The $72 diagnostic credits toward the repair.

  • Mini Split Replacement

For aging systems or mismatched zone sizing that are past worth repairing. Daikin or Goodman, sized to the rooms. Free in-home consultation.

  • Mini Split Maintenance

Mini splits need different care than central systems. Indoor-head deep clean, filter screen wash, condensate line flush, refrigerant pressure check on every visit. Covered under Tru Comfort at $14.99 a month.

Tell us what you're noticing.

The rooms a central system never quite reaches, and the faults a mini split actually throws. Any one of these is reason enough to book.

  • The bonus room runs hot all summer.

Eight degrees above the rest of the house on a July afternoon, and the duct run can't be extended.

  • The sunroom is unusable in either season.

Too hot in July, too cold in January. Usually the glass load, not the equipment.

  • The addition never got put on the system.

Running new ducts wasn't practical when it was built, and it still isn't.

  • An indoor head is throwing an error code.

Inverter board faults and communication errors between the head and the condenser.

  • Water is dripping from the indoor head.

Usually a condensate line that needs flushing, not a leak in the equipment.

  • The head is louder than it used to be.

Indoor-head fan noise, or a filter screen and coil that have not been cleaned in a while.

We diagnose properly, write the price before any work begins, and tell the truth about whether it's repair or replacement.

Three rooms, three temperatures, one system.

A Charlotte install call

A homeowner in Huntersville called us about three rooms the central system never quite handled: an upstairs bonus room that ran 8 degrees warmer than the rest of the house in July, a sunroom off the kitchen that was unusable in either July or January, and a finished space above the garage that the previous owner had given up on heating altogether.

Running new ducts wasn't practical — the framing path didn't exist — and a single new central system zone wouldn't have helped the sunroom anyway because of the glass load.

We measured each space, ran a Manual J load calc on each room individually, and quoted a three-head multi-zone Daikin mini split sized to the actual loads, not three identical heads that would have overshot some rooms and undershot others.

The install went in over two days. Each room now sits at its own setpoint. The sunroom is finally usable year-round, the bonus room actually matches the rest of the house in July, and the space above the garage is a working office now instead of storage.

What it means: Mini splits only work when the sizing actually fits the room. Anything else is a guess in expensive equipment — which is why we measure each zone separately.

We don't guess. We test.

Every mini-split install starts with a per-room load calc. Every mini-split repair starts with the gauges, the meters and the manufacturer-specific diagnostic tools. Here is what each one tells us, in plain language.

  1. We calculate each room, not the house.

A Manual J load calculation is run per room, because a sunroom with a wall of glass and a bedroom of the same square footage are not the same load.

On the Huntersville install above, three identical heads would have overshot some rooms and undershot others. Sized per room, each one now holds its own setpoint.

What it means: An overshooting head short cycles and never pulls the humidity out. Sizing per room is what stops you paying for that twice.

  2. We measure the refrigerant side.

Line-set pressures and flare joints, on whatever brand is on the wall. Flare technique varies by manufacturer, and a slow flare leak presents exactly like an undersized system.

What it means: A leak and a sizing mistake cost very different amounts to fix. Measuring first tells us which one you have.

  3. We read the boards.

Inverter board faults and the communication protocol between the indoor head and the outdoor condenser, with the manufacturer's own diagnostic tools rather than a generic meter.

What it means: The error code is not the fault. It is where to start looking, and the two are often in different parts of the system.

What it means: The inverter compressor is the expensive part. Keeping it off a dirty coil is most of what the maintenance visit is for.

What the visit actually looks like.

Five steps, every time, whether it's one head or five.

  1. Schedule

Online in about 90 seconds, or by phone. Free in-home consultation on installs and replacements; $72 flat on a repair, credited toward the work.

  2. Measure

Each room measured and a Manual J load calculation run per zone — not a total divided by the number of heads. On a repair, line-set pressures, flare joints and board signals.

  3. Quote

Single-head or multi-head, in Daikin or Goodman, sized to the rooms. The price in plain terms, in writing, before any work begins. We don't size the system to a sales target.

  4. Install or repair

A three-head multi-zone typically goes in over two days. Repairs cover any mini-split, whoever installed it.

  5. Verify

Each zone is brought to its setpoint and checked before we leave, so you know the sizing was right rather than hoping it was.

Two brands. One family.

We service mini-splits whoever installed them. When we install one, it is one of these two — and here is why.

  • Daikin

    Inverter-driven, ultra-quiet, high-SEER2

Daikin is the global leader in heat pump technology. Inverter-driven variable-speed operation matches output to demand minute by minute, so you get tighter temperature control, lower operating noise and stronger efficiency.

  • Goodman

Solid efficiency, strong warranty, accessible price

Goodman is the workhorse of the Daikin family in North America. Systems that hit modern efficiency targets at an approachable price point, with a warranty among the strongest in the industry — which matters when the system needs to last 15 to 20 years.

What it means: We pick from those two because we've stocked the parts, trained the technicians, and seen enough of them in Carolina homes to know how they age.

Tru Comfort — Tru72 maintenance plan
Year-round mini-split care

Most mini-split owners join Tru Comfort.

Mini splits run year-round in the Carolinas. If a mini split isn't quite right.

  • Central Air Conditioning

If you already have ductwork in good shape, central AC can be a more efficient whole-home answer. Every major brand serviced. Daikin and Goodman installed.

  • Heat Pumps

A heat pump can do both jobs — cooling and heating — on a single ducted system. Modern variable-speed models pair the comfort of a mini split with the reach of a central system.

  • Aeroseal duct sealing

If the existing duct system leaks 20-30% of its conditioned air before it reaches the rooms (typical), Aeroseal seals the ducts from the inside. Sometimes the real fix isn't more equipment, it's tightening what you have.

Mini splits, plain answers.

The questions Charlotte homeowners ask most often before deciding whether a mini split is the right fit.

Do you repair mini splits installed by other companies?

Yes. We service and repair mini-splits regardless of who installed them. Mini-split systems are brand-specific — the inverter boards, communication protocols, and refrigerant flare techniques vary widely — and our certified technicians carry the tools and training to diagnose them right. The $72 diagnostic applies to any mini-split repair and credits toward the work. For new installs and replacements, we install Daikin and Goodman.

What brands do you install?

Daikin and Goodman, exclusively. We pick from those two because we've stocked the parts, trained the technicians, and seen enough of them in Carolina homes to know how they age. Other brands look fine on a spec sheet but we don't have the diagnostic relationship to service them well over a decade-plus lifespan.

When does a mini split make more sense than central AC?

A few common cases. Additions or finished spaces where extending the existing ducts isn't practical. Bonus rooms above the garage or kitchen that the central system can't quite reach because of duct length and static pressure. Sunrooms with high glass load. Whole-home ductless retrofits in older houses where the ductwork is too compromised to keep using. If your existing ductwork is in good shape, a central system is usually the better whole-home answer.

Single-zone or multi-zone?

Single-zone is one outdoor condenser paired with one indoor head — simplest, most reliable, best efficiency. Multi-zone is one outdoor condenser paired with two-to-five indoor heads, more flexibility for whole-home coverage, but each indoor head needs to be sized to its room load (not just the total square footage). We run a per-room Manual J before quoting any multi-zone system.

Do you offer financing on mini-split installs?

Yes. We finance through GreenSky. Most install customers are pre-approved before the install date. Pricing for the new system is quoted in writing after a free in-home consultation that includes the load calc. We don't size the system to a sales target.

Zone comfort, done right.
